Gents,
Does anyone have any experience of Corneliani's MTM service? And any views on the quality of their fabrics?
Thanks in advance,
BJS
The nicest off-the-rack garmentI ever owned was a beautiful brown houndstooth check sport coat from Corneliani and, frankly, it fit me very similarly to my finest bespoke jackets and the cloth and workmanship was excellent. And, that was off-the-rack. Unless there has been a change in their quality, I'd def. put Coreneliani at the top of my list.
the other brand ( in terms of their models ) that my tailor speaks glowingly about is canali.
I have a local retailer, Nobles Jones in Richmond upon Thames, that offers Corneliani MTM. It looks good value to me compared alternative MTM options offered by Austin Reed and (Wensum, BMB) and Gieves & Hawkes (Wensum).
Gieves & Hawkes is currently offering £200 off its MTM service. If you spend over £800 in total, you get to £200k of accessories (shirts, ties, etc) free.
You may wish to consider an off-Row bespoke alternative in London. There are plenty of options from £800 to £1600. What's your budget?
Eredi Pisano is another high-quality brand, although, only available in Italy and New York.
Thanks for the quick responses Gents. If the RTW is anything to go by the workmanship still looks pretty good to my - relatively untutored - eye. Not quite as confident on the fabric though - I've had a couple of Corneliani ties and they seem a touch flimsy in comparison to, say, ties by Zegna or Pal Zileri although I guess there's no reason this should necessarily extend to the suits.
Bishop: there's a similar offer on at a retailer in Windsor (John Goodwin) which prompted the original post - free shirt and tie with a Corneliani MTM suit. Prices for a 2-piece range between £850 and £1,100 depending on fabric. I've had one previous foray into bespoke which was OK but I'm curious to check out the more cost-effective options, including the off-row tailors you mentioned. My budget is about £1,250 for a 2-piece suit with an extra pair of trousers. Any recommendations?
Cheers,
BJS
