Formby,
I take issue with your metaphor of vintage brit cars. I was blessed to own several; a Jowet Jupiter, MGA coupe, Austin Mini Cooper S 1100cc ( last known exmple) My joy was plying the famous canyon roads to Malibu and into L.A. picking dogfights with contemporary continental machines. I worried enough to send a few to the side with bent rods, thrashed gearboxes or ashen faced plastic surgeons.
To be fair, I got home and had to take whitworth spanners to every bolt, retrue wire wheels , pray to Lucas, Laird of Darkness and pour more kitty litter on the oil on the ground. But it was part of the fun and never involved expensive shop time.
I think our clothing choices represent values no sociologist could decypher, or Louis Armstrong's famous reply about jazz.
Steinbock Loden insulated walking coat -- I love the mottled green colour and it's roomy enough to go over a jacket or bulky sweater. Just the thing for the crappy Spring weather we'll get off Lake Ontario for the next month or so.
l got the George Materna bespoke afew days ago. Crikey...they are absolute beauties mate! Best shoos i've ever seen by a country mile mate! They are both handwelted/stitched and double hand pegged; such a rare and amazing construction, true art!!!
The fit is good for the uppers, but the arch support in the left foot is alittle too much. l have taken my hammer and have beaten the hell out of part of the arch support (on a metal last) and things do seem to fit better, it is actually wearable now. l'm not sure if the inbuild arches are under the sock or the insole, l might rip off the sock on the weekend and hope l can file a small part of the arch, if not i'll bang `em afew more times with the hammer.
Being a pegged shoo, they are rock solid to wear. Loud, big, tough and solid...just the way l like `em. They feel as tough and solid feeling as anything i've ever dreamed of, a true beauty!
l'll post some pics on the weekend.

I just added a set of barbell cufflinks to my modest collection. The gothic couple selling her grandparent's stuff thought it was trippy grandfather owned piercings, but cringed at the thick guage.
They told me they were probably pewter because of the grey finish, and made by somebody called sterling and stamped $8.25, But I could have them for $5.
I must thank my nieghbor who dumps $5 in coors light bottles every morning without fail.
