Agreed. My Dad, finding his feet in the rock n' roll 50s, admits to being uncertain about some of the stuff he was buying on 78. Not a lot he doesn't know now, but he draws the line at Archie Shepp. Parker was probably the first I actually sat down and listened to, without just hearing it around the house. Listening to Willie Dixon, Robert Johnson and those guys helped me enormously.
