What are you searching for?

Just curious.  It doesn't have to be the Holy Grail.

I'm after an exceptionally plain, 100 per cent cotton, US made sweatshirt.  The last one I saw for sale - on the Bay - was $100, which struck me as steep.  Everything seems to have a logo (or, as Birmingham sweetly put it, an emblem) and/or a hood.  Or they're poly/cotton.

Also some really top quality tan cotton cords, preferably pre-washed.

Does your heart sink when you see BNWT?

(A grey sweatshirt, for preference; tan or beige might do).

Stuff I still occasionally keep a look-out for:

Dunlop Green Flash in white/navy
Slim-cut heavier weight khakis on the cheap, also the same cut in grey flannel
madras s/s shirt in small...
beige bucket hat

You can add a Woody-style Brooks tan fishing hat to my list!

Right now, as summer's a-comin' in: 3btn, narrow-lapelled, tan-colored, 100% linen sportcoat.  5/16" lapped seams and hook vent, too, while we're dreaming.

I want to go back to Oxfam & get that Olive, 3 button, no shoulder, 3 patch pocket, centre vented, Linen jacket. Three on the cuff & ripe for having a swelled edge added to those slim lapels.

£12

Interior label missing.

Re: What are you searching for?

Got my bucket hat sorted.
Sometimes, dear readers, life gives you a detour. Just when you think you got lost, you're there.

When I bought my Shaggy Dog late last year I thought 'what the heck' and had them throw in a reversible bucket hat. Beige twill/brown herringbone. Expensive mistake. It turned out to be too dressy, too big and it made me look like Inspector Gadget.  It must be somewhere in that pile now, the pile that says "Ebay Powerseller Status here I come".

So I woke up one Saturday with the ideal bucket in my head and the luminous plan to go and try fishing gear shops. Forgot all about it, and went doing the regular rounds instead. Charity shops. Went through the racks of the first one, no luck, and I was just about to leave when something made me stay and go through the accessory bins. And there it was. 3 euros. Beige cotton, crumply, size 58, narrow brims, pockets with metal zips on the sides exactly like the one I had in mind, the one I had as a kid.

Re: What are you searching for?

not clothing...but Mrs Smart and I have been on the lookout for a Heywood Wakefield corner dual level table for a while and finally found one in pristine refinished condition on sunday.  Early 50s model, the exact style we've been searching for.  sort of a grail piece for us, and found at a good price, esp given its condition (near mint)

clothingw-wise....would love a dark burgundy pair of staprest trousers
