Suppose a hurricane or some other natural disaster were coming in a few days and you must vacate your domicile.
You have to pack into one or two large suitcases your very favorite items from each part of your wardrobe--no more than 4 or 5 suits, 4 or 5 jackets, shirts, shoes, an overcoat, etc. What would you bring? What--for personal, fit, Ivy purist, or whatever reasons you choose--is the top drawer of your wardrobe that you would wish to save?
You start
This would be a good question for me to ask next time I'm facing the wardrobe. I need to go all Chet Miles on the fucker and weed out some bits. Again.
Not Clothing for me- but my Annie Sprinkle, Claudine Beccarie porn collection along with my Ron Jeremy memorabilia, and perhaps the underwear worn by Houston (unlaundered) -which she wore immediately after the conclusion of filming The Houston 500 - won that particular pair of panties in an online auction ($1256 well spent in my opinion)
Well, for starters:
Jackets:
1. Vintage Norman Hilton 3/2 hopsack blazer, fits perfectly (and their silhouette, while being 3/2, is much slimmer--higher armholes, trim sides)
2. Southwick for CCC Olive/Brown herringbone shetland tweed, off the rack but fits perfectly. This was new old stock and has the nicest shoulders imaginable.
Suits:
1. Southwick for CCC Brown Corduroy Suit--most corduroy jackets and suits fall at the cheapest end of most makers' lines, in Pressclusive territory or whatever. These are full Southwick quality, was able to pick them up on massive sale which justified the price.
2. Ditto in Dark Green
3. Andover Shop MTM Dark Blue Nailhead Weave by Samuelohn, in their 2 button sack model
Trousers
BB Cavalry Twill in Brown, British Tan, Fern Green, Charcoal
Ties
CCC Red Wool Challis Tie, 3.25"
J. Press Deadstock Olive/Brown Striped Tie, 3.25"
Viyella Dress Gordon Tartan Tie, 3.25"
Shoes:
Alden for BB LHS loafers and tassel loafers in #8 shell cordovan
Vintage USA made tassel weejuns
Shetlands:
Vintage McGeorge in Raspberry, Heathered Green
Vintage Alan Paine in Dark Rust
Cashmere:
Vintage McGeorge for Eljos Camel colored Cable knit
Four climes dark navy baracuta jacket
Tweed Invertere overcoat with red tartan wool lining

I got asked this by the NYC FT cove who interviewed me as 'Russell' along with Hank & Tintin last year. He insisted on a J. Press item to suit his piece so I went with the jacket I mention in the article.
In reality I'd only save Chris_H's soft Brown Chipp Sack - The finest item of clothing I own, including all my Anglo Ivy tailor made stuff. Press & Brooks could burn, they're easier to replace via the vintage network.
For shirts I'd just save the Troys.
For shoes just my '85 Weejuns.
And one pair of Woolrich Cord Chinos and a London Fog mac.
The irreplaceable stuff would be what I'd grab, a mixed bag; two 1960s suits that I acquired via a forum member (slim grey-blue worsted Rose Brothers with all the ivy details, President grey sharkskin continental suit), the Brooks wash-and-wear poplin suit in olive (fits in a envelope), one of my kilts and my tweed kilt jacket, the loud tartan jacket in my family tartan, the four-way reversible Trimingham's of Bermuda tartan tie, grandad's abalone cufflinks, the black silk bow tie I wore for my wedding, my white Sero OCBD, my old charity shop short mac.
A right charlie I am going to look mincing through the aftermath in that get-up...
It's on here. "Search"? I talked for 40 mins & got 2 sentences. Ditto Hank.
ACL was behind it.
A load of shite.
