You're never a pain, Alex. You're much admired on here for your sense of balance. Jim's the one who's always falling over. Double brandy with his Weetabix indeed!
Now there's a challenge for you cockneys. If it's not too much to ask I'd like both a daywear and an eveningwear outfit please
I should probably mention the fact that I've met Chris once however and the man looked convincingly smart IMHO.
If you want pics from me I have none to give. I don't have the technology to provide them.
... I'm not really all that into the Net.
... Probably I'm most into the whole J. Simons style 'influence' thing.
Influencing people is a very interesting thing. Sometimes good, sometimes bad.
'Russell' did his cyber manipulation and I have a left-over interest from that crew in seeing how it all plays out.
The fact that we now have Dutch guys feling so strongly about this could not have been predicted back in '04.
I think it's great.
'Russell' came & went. Just Jim could morph into 'Horton Wharton' just as easily (Who is that guy?). That the story goes on is my interest. It waxes & wanes and is always changing...
The ultimate joke could very well be that CMC is the last man standing!
It's a thought.
The point is that often you see it and it fails to register. It causes neither shock, pain or anger. It does, however, possibly make you go away and have another think. On the other hand it registers to the extent to just think 'yes, that's nicely kicked back' (as Jim might phrase it). T'other point is, no one cares what you think. No one should, no one will. UK Ivy just is: subtle and not always costing an arm and a leg. See Chris_H's post from about a fortnight ago: thrifty original mod Ivy. We love the Yanks, but we don't play the game that way. It's not even really about one-upmanship on here. If the guys in Covent Garden know something, and you want to know, they're willing to share. But this is mainly an East End/Stamford Hill sensibility, not easily sussed by raw provincials like meself...
Stamp was pretty in 60, pretty awful not many years later. Virtually as naff as his flat-mate Caine. David Hemmings was the kiddie. And Carol White the crumpet.
Yes, but how many guys in England are wearing them? They all shop at Asda.
And then there's Woolrich & Filson - Real 'Dandy' stuff over here! You gotta really work to get their stuff.
Look, AQG, forget Bean for a minute - although I happen to be wearing Bean right now. If I wander down my high street wearing cashmere - let alone Paul Stuart cashmere - it really doesn't register; not at all. No one in England I know has ever heard of Paul Stuart. Why? Dunno. You remember that chat we had about Henri Lloyd? North Face? Now NFs known because the high street shops stock it; my daughter wears it. Mind you, I once sat next to an American on a plane who'd never heard of J.Press. I took it for granted that he would have, so it just goes to show.
Back to Bean. I wouldn't know where to buy it in England. As JJ says, it requires effort. So did getting hold of original Levis. That's 'mod' for you, and 'mod' is London.
^ ^ In the UK they are sought out.
Carharrt even more so.
... It's a 'Stylist' thing.

Add to Bean and Wranglers stuff like Osh Kosh, or carpenters gear. Not Ivy, I grant you, Americana. I made sure my eldest ran around in Osh Kosh. It was expensive, it was American - she was one hip three year old!
Carharrt has gone a bit wavy. Expensive in Italy, though.
