Some interesting quotes on Chipp shirts, which were apparently made by Troy.
"Chipp shirts were made by Gant and Troy Shirtmakers Guild. The Troy shirt was the best shirt made in the USA- maybe the best on the planet. The Troy shirts you can buy today are Troy shirts in name only. The name was purchased, not business that was producing shirts."
Further.
"Troy was a great shirt because they purchased the best quality cloth and they had skilled machine operators who had worked for them for years. They had developed very good models. The shirts they made for us were made over our own models ( body girth, collars, etc.). As good as they were, it still took them the better part of a year to get our model made the way we wanted it. ” Fabric by R & O Hawick” was a great source of amusement to me. That was a name made up by Bill Archer, who ran the company. Hawick ( pronounced Hoik) is a river in Scotland. There was no company named R & O Hawick.
Who sells quality shirts today? Winston Tailors sells really good shirts. They are single needle. They are cut over our old model. Because our shirts are individually made, we can make variations. We have great patterns from which to choose."

Ashamed to say I only have two, one I love and one I tolerate. The first, I would hazard a guess, is by far the older of the two (judging by the labels), a kind of mauve, miniscule check button-down. It looks elegant; never seen anything quite like it. With a white t-shirt showing at the throat, and the right cut and colour of chino below it looks 'andsome.
