There ares some wonderful Jack Lemmon images on Getty, particularly those of him sitting in a London hotel bar around '55 or '56: olive poplin suit, white pinned club collar, dark knit tie and PTBs. Doesn't get any better than that.
I'm in full agreement with all of these. Good to see Lemmon gettin' some respect. Peter Cook is always a big inspiration for me, as is George Peppard.

Great style in Trading Places. I view the clothes in this movie in a similar way to Animal House. In that movie it was a late 70s take on early 60s ivy. Trading Places is a early 80s spoof on preppie, but I still love it nonetheless:

Nice pics, Tom--Redford in Dot C is a big reference point for me.
Jim--that way madness lies.
From the Trip Down South blog:
an excellent photo essay on the truly execrable 80s "comedy" Making the Grade, which features a mouth-watering explosion of preppy (sorry J, it is) sartorial insanity. I really like a lot of this. We rented this in high school repeatedly ("auto shop teacha?") and def took notes. Sad.

Also terrible, also full of great looks: Private School, starring Matthew Modine and the object of my ongoing, 20-something year erotic obsession, Phoebe Cates:
