But - I thought you wanted me to disagree more
Ok I guess I came on a bit too strong there. My apologies if I did. Guess I hadn't gone for a dump yet that day.
Yeah would be good if someone could explain those 3 points for us. To me it just looks like an arrogant, overly simplistic point of view. I think the United States provided some nuance to that already yesterday.
Any anti-Americans remember: a lot of brave young men died on Omaha. And, no, I didn't need 'Saving Private Ryan' to tell me that.
It also hurts me to see guys who are wearing some of the gear, but they're either wearing it in shit order or they just don't know they're wearing it. I first began to fall deeply out of love with Fred Perry upon seeing chavvy little toerags walking round looking like sacks of shit. Just more crappy hip-hop gear.
Four things? Now, I'm truly confused. I thought there were three. This is like the Spanish Inquisition routine from The Flying Circus.
Now I'm confused:
Death.
Judgement.
Heaven.
Hell.
Are you thinking of Bell, Book & Candle?
Top thread, eh?
The 3 Points:
"Why doesn't America get it?"
"Why does the continent struggle?"
"What specifically is it on the Internet that isn't working for the poster?"
May I?
1) America has mainly moved on. Their style at home is subject to fashion in a way that their style abroad is not. Maybe?
2) "The Continent" (Delightfully old fashioned term!) has moved on too. Paris had a much bigger Ivy scene than London. So big it could boom & bust. Maybe?
3) A guess? 'Preppy' & 'Trad' don't do it for him. Because he hasn't moved on. Maybe?
- I've never moved on either. The classics remain the classics with me.
... "Cheeky Monkey"?
I spy a clue in your avatar!
Lads,,
Well,,, 'aving suffered thru many threads explaining that the Yanks dont get it,, that you must 'ave worshiped at the throne of J. Simons,, be a Londoner and or gay and Jewish to be sussed,, I say
Congratulations.. You 'ave made me favorite forum more ridiculous than ol Harry's claims that Trad came from 2 country clubs in New England or a store in Virginia. Sorry chums,, Ivy didnt spawn from one shop in London any more than it spawned from ol Myles' place in Virginny.
Cheers.
