Yes, i do love a good sock. I've been extremely dissapointed with my Burlingtons of late, they appear to be more flimsy and the quality has nose dived. Can anyone recommend a good Argyle alternative. Peace and love to all...

I find Burlingtons pretty horrible: quite that much man-made fibre in a sock is not for me. They look great until the first wash and then become a dull, pilled, shrunken mess.

I find myself wearing argyle socks much less these days (perhaps because they've become something of an iGent cliché) and opt mainly for plain navy, black and charcoal in knee length merino, with a few pairs of Pantharella cottons in tan and red for the summer.

The Burberry factory shop in Hackney used to be great for socks. Five quid a pair for a very high quality product in lots of nice colours: less of an option these days as everything else there is so uninspiring.

The Wigwams are great for those who can still get away with looking of collegiate age and are perhaps the most authentic accompaniment to the Weejun. They get grubby pretty quickly, although that too is pretty authentic I would have thought.
