Here we are, in the UK (some of us), one foot in Europe and one foot out, not knowing whether to look east or west. We either look east, to Paris and Rome (or Bologna, Gibson Gardens) or west, to New York City and the eastern seaboard. Weston or Sebago? Manhattan or Montmartre? Vermont or the Via Veneto? Italian-made Paul Stuart or American Brooks?
A little game for the Bank Holiday, all right?
Well it's going to be vintage Brooks with the Sebagos for me. London Fog raincoat over the arm. American classics but worn in a European environment. Cafe hopping on the walk from Place de la Republique over to the B-S-G. Every inch the American exec circa '63 but transplanted into the present. Impressing the beautiful French girls and getting the knowing look of recognition from the stylish older French guys. Well that's the plan, anyway.

Seriously, though, it's relatively easy to hop over to, say, Paris or even Venice, whereas New York or Boston is a haul, yes? But this is more a question of style influences from the comfort of your armchair (or computer desk).
I'm with Mr Stacey - An American in Paris is a wonderful thing.
None of you are playing properly...
