It's fantastically important to get it right, and you do need to trust whoever does it to listen carefully to what you have to say.  In England, striking the balance between shaved-headed imbecile and college dweeb is what often exercises me more than anything, because the texture of my hair is pretty weird.  The Mulligan is good, though, and I keep a press photograph of him on my notice board just to remind me.
