I am not terribly worried personally.. I eat well, run about 30 to 35k a week, and don't drink a lot of beer.  At the end of the day though, I don't let my clothing influence how I live life, other way around.  I do worry about fires though.  All those shoes, up in smoke.  I can't imagine my insurance company would believe me.  "You spent what on shoes?? OK, come back with a real claim..."

I moved house recently and the removal men were playing hell about the boxes and boxes of clothes and shoes they had to hump. One said to me "Oy mate, you'll have to tell your Missus to ease up on the clothes buying!" I didn't dare tell him all the wife's gear was just in two bin-bags in the corner...

SINCE I STARTED A REAL INTEREST IN GOOD SHOES A FEW YEARS AGO I HAVE TURNED THE TABLES AT MY PLACE. MY WIFE WAS ALWAYS THE SHOE TRAGIC/IMELDA FIGURE BUT IN REACTION TO ME SHE HAS TURNED OFF THE SHOE TAP AND BUYS 4 PAIRS A YEAR TOPS. SHE MOANS ABOUT ME HAVING 60 PAIRS OF SHOES BUT REALLY SEEMS TO BE UNFUSSED ABOUT IT AS SHE SEES ME LOOK AFTER THEM AND WEAR THEM ALL THE TIME. THEN SHE IS RAPT WHEN HAVING FOUND THE BEST COBBLER I HAVE HER FAVES REPAIRED PERFECTLY WHEN SHE HAS TRASHED THEM TO DEATH. Don't you love every one of 'em????

Yeah, I have had to watch my weight so as not to balloon out of my custom-tailored stuff, but I certainly don't worry about theft/fire/flood.

<Groan> Moths are periodically brought up at BBR. I posted a lengthy missive after consulting with  'bug man' the guy who provides insects and arachnids to the movie studios. I also had a certified pesticide applicator's license so I think my coments were usefull and imagined then a permanent article on the homepage. NOOOO I was harried from all quarters, may they succumb to 'moth and rust.'

Sadly, I'm more stressed out by the continuing financial crisis and the risk of taking my family and myself into the uncontrollable universe of chance and luck, like those unfortunates flying back from Rio......

Re: Stressing about your large collections of sartorial items.

I don't worry about my clothes and shoes being stolen. Is clothing theft much of problem outside the Third World? Fire would be catastrophic, however.

About a year ago I started to get a bit too big in the waist for some of my trousers, and so I went on a rigid austerity program. Within a month or so I had knocked almost 2 1/2 inches off my waistline, and all was well again.

Moths are some concern as well.
