Madras shorts - I dare you

Just looking at the 'Boom Years' picture of the man and woman wearing Madras shorts and wondering if any Englishman dares.
There seems to be a regrettable fashion amongst English men who should know better to wear those godawful mud-coloured polyester Chinese Tesco Superstore horrors with drawstrings, fat gut bulging over the elastic and topped off with some crappy rugby shirt or something similar.  And yet, walk out of the house in a Madras half sleeve, Bill's shorts and Sebago and the buggers are gawping at you!

I think I might just invest in some.  Who does the best pair?  I might even wear them with white socks and loafers.

I liked the plain flatfront 9" 'Dickies' shorts in Interstate in Covent Garden when I was last in. A very nice 'Cadet Blue' was on show - Very US style. Good with a fine striped Seersucker BD.
