Great link Chris!
Jack Nitzsche, "The Last Race." As featured in Death Proof, this is a great sultry instro.

It's really comprehensive, featuring pretty extensive pieces from people who knew him.
On a total tangent, I recently saw what must be one of the bigger wasted Miles Davis opportunities in an episode of Michael Mann's Crime Story, a 1980s show on cops and robbers set in the 1960s. As far as I know, Davis was not really a cameo kind of guy, so I was pleasantly surprised when I saw his name come up in the opening credits of one of the episodes. Anyway, the actual scene is terrible. It sounds like they over-dubbed him and he's only in the show for about 20 seconds, doing jive handshakes with the white lawyer character, assumedly to give said character "street" cred. Ugh. I really hope that new retro crime movie he is doing comes out much better. My girlfriend once said that the 1980s was such an overpowering decade that when artists tried to do period films, they always came out feeling a lot more like the 1980s than the original, envisioned decade, Blue Velvet being another example.

Your girlfriend has made a good point Decline. Most actors were too reluctant to have their mullets chopped to get a proper period haircut!

any british folks on here catch that BBC4 prog on james brown gig after the mlk assassination?
No, but I caught the evening of excellent jazz documentaries a couple of weeks ago, Bruce Weber's B&W portrait of Chet "Let's Get Lost" and some decent films on Coltrane.

Yeah, I was kind of curious if you would notice I slipped that in there. I use to spend a lot of time listening to them when I was younger, and still do when I am in that kind of mood. The most offensive song lyrics imaginable.
