Not sure if this will reach you, but I want you to know I enjoyed your presence here. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and feelings on this. Your musings on dull colours, simplicity, American GIs and old photographs, on the importance of being specific, your lucid attention to detail, I will miss all that. All those hours spent on here and ever the authentic voice, unadulterated. Even the political bits - not always as polite but it was all passion, I recognise that. Cheers, sir.

Not trying to brown nose nor bury the man. Saying "I hope you'll return" often sounds a bit gratuitous - I think turning one's back on something is to be respected equally. Either way, all good.
43 reads and counting. Anyone care to say something about the long hours CM/ISR put into this, all the quality posts?

Flouncing off a forum is a sure sign someone will return.
Chet's contribution was laudable in terms of the hours put in but there seemed to be an increasing sense that he was no longer enjoying the forum. In the final analysis this should all be fun. We aren't studying towards an exam are we?
As Lord Palmerston once wrote to Lord John Russell:
