Maybe I should see them in the flesh. They're a very good attempt from England (nobody knows the horrors I've seen)... So why do I find them a bit 'off'?
Why don't they have that ol' Ivy magic for me?
The heel. The heel is wrong, IMO.
The strap/saddle/call it what you will is also uninspiring. The Beefroll is nice, tho'.
The foxing or kicker ridge at the back looks 'cheaply' done to my bloodshot eyes.
But they do have the old traditional lock-stitch down nicely on the vamp. That pie-crust thing that I so enjoy. Maybe it's mainly the heel that puts me off.
They look much better here:

^ The heels look much better there too.
I agree Uncle Russell, it would be better to see them in the flesh ( or leather). I shall investigate further. As ever Uncle, you are the Guru of all things cool.
Cheap and cheerful for me. Baracuta etc. are a bit precious.
Internet Harrington is closer to what I used to own. Each one is slightly different.
If you want, you can throw them away when they get dirty - although polycotton will not give you washday blues. Get another for less than £20.
My two Harringtons were bought from a big cheap clothes store in Canada. They are well cut and are really nice jackets. They cost about £20 each. You don't have to spend big money unless you are really hung up on names.

i couldn't count how many baracuta harringtons i've had over the years, but i won't buy another one as the last one i bought was not to my liking. the zip has gone all wavy for a start, and why did they have to put a poxy label on the pocket, and who has ever been tempted to undo a zip from the bottom? (no actress/bishop jokes please). as a lifelong jacket fetishist, i feel like there is a great big gap in my wardrobe.. sob.. where there should be a couple of baracutas that are just RIGHT. i like the burberry golfers but i won't wear them in england because of the football fooligans, ditto a gorgeous aquascutum. j simons had some harrington looky likeys that looked ok on the hanger but they were a bit flimsy- i forget the brand, anyone know?
back to topic- dry clean.
^ Colud be the 'CTG Classic Clothing' ones (I think those are the initials, but am too lazy to pull mine out of the wardrobe to check). Inexpensive & a lighter weight. 'Summer Harringtons' (or somesuch) they where once billed as in the window I think.
