Is it more interesting to talk about clothes or to talk about talking about clothes?
I feel that talking about, trolls talking about, clothes is the most, interesting.
Discussions should be about style first and foremost I think. Obviously we're not supposed to agree on everything, in fact it's a good and healthy ( that word again ) thing to disagree, but the most important thing is to be able to agree to differ and let rest any kind of disagreement. It's not worth it, especially seeing as we're just talking clothes.....

Is it interesting to talk about talking about clothes talk?
It was a sincere question. I'm sorry if it came off otherwise. A lot of the topics start off strong and quickly disintegrate lately. The details of the ivy look past, present, and future and the individual's personal perspective on it all are what interest me. The older posts are a great resource for the ivy enthusiast. That's what brought me here. I'm goin' to shut the hell up now.

I don't think the original question came off as flippant at all.
US Ivy, Preppy, US workwear and the London offshoot have all been described to death (the clothes at least). So interesting vintage pieces, reissues of old kit and the handful of contemporary manufacturers are the only thing left to discuss clotheswise - perhaps interspersed with anecdotes of today's Ivyphiles on the forum and, yes, the odd look over the edge of the Ivy plate.
Not to sound uber-provocative, but 90% of all this would fill a slim volume. And a great little red book it would be too.
With that background it's not surprising that any forum will 'go meta' at some point.
Once you have, wear and un-selfconsciencely live the wardrobe, the people around you reassume more significance. So yes, to talk about talking about clothes is often the more interesting alternative.
I wasn't trying to come across as flippant either. I simply noticed we're now talking about talking about talking about clothes.
