Alleged architect of the war in Vietnam (the BBC News conveniently forgetting about Dean Rusk, Walt Rostow and others), wearer of great Ivy League clothing. I just caught the newsreel footage last night: JFK introducing his new guy to the cameras. Followed by the obligatory, lazy shots of Lennon and Ono. Count me in as a hawk.
With out touching on the politics at all, I noticed his outfits in a lot of the footage on the news yesterday. In the documentary/interview with McNamara, "Fog of War", he sports the look to good effect. The documentary is pretty riveting stuff otherwise as well.
^Agreed, a fantastic documentary. And an always well turned out man he was too.

Would that generation of well educated, well heeled gents ever have dreamed of wearing anything else? In public anyway.
Hoover had a nice line in cocktail dresses and slingbacks...
Yes, it makes for an interesting story. Hoover had that thing going with Tolson. Bobby Kennedy knew about that and I think had photographic evidence, and Hoover knew about Jack and his connections, so a highly amusing situation arose!
Rumour had it Hoover had Dillinger's rather substantial penis in a jar in his office...
