I've learned all about details : hooked vents, raised seams, swelled edges on lapels, sack jackets, positioning of buttons, stitching on shirts, whether or not certain footwear belongs in the Ivy canon etc etc.
Of course I've come to the conclusion that those details matter but then again not a whole lot. As SS just mentioned on another thread if an item fits ( within )one's idea of The Look then that's most certainly a prime directive. Most of the time I ignore the importance of said details and couldn't care less if they are all truly Ivy or not. What matters most to me is that softness people have often referred to, the relaxed smartness if you will.
The roll of the collar on a BD ( and indeed nothing else ), the soft shoulder on a jacket and of course the haircut are quintessential in my book.
All the rest I'll basically just interpret as I see fit and add to the style what I like thanks very much.....
