The Navy Pea Coat

I bought mine for £50 at 'Wild' in Nottingham about three years ago.  It still has the name of the sailor inside.  I've already had to have the buttons tightened and will have to do so again.  They look good, IMO, with light coloured chinos and dark desert boots, during autumn and winter.  £50 well spent.  Any fans?

Yes, but it must be the eight button model. has anyone gone the whole hog and worn the officer's version?

I'm a big fan now but I only bought one last Winter. Looked at them many times before and not taken the plunge.

It's a staple... I wear them much too often in the colder days. Got 7 of them, all a little different.

Me too, I have an enlisted man's version bought from a surplus store in San Francisco. Very heavy, so late Autumn and winter wear only usually with olive needle cord 5-pockets and suede chukkas.

Not owned one for about 15 years I reckon?? They became pretty ubiquitous on the High St at one point, which put me of em a bit. But I do appreciate them.

Re: The Navy Pea Coat

The US connection is extremely important - well, vital.  John Simons hefted mine in his hands and told me it wasn't as heavy as the older ones.  I think it's from the 60s.  Loads of them get sold on Ebay.  I bought my daughter an Australian 'Mook', a prototype, from a guy in California.  It had belonged to his wife and he was evidently disappointed not to get more money for it.  Mine goes on more than the tan Brooksgate duffel, usually with an old Press lambswool scarf.  You can take 'em anywhere.  Did I read somewhere they were popular in Paris during the autumn/winter?
