A memorably inane Quoddy thread:

Look for hilarious wordplay from Trad forum regulars!

Yes, Camorristi, Andyland will love these. Good eye. So shocking and daring.

An iGent searches for a "general purpose shoe." Fascinating. He gave his requirements in an unreadably thorough manifest, but this got me thinking about a general purpose iGent shoe. It would have to stand up to the rough and tumble world of the dedicated Andylander, who on any given day may do ALL of the following:
- Walk the dog
- Do some "yardwork," which I have always assumed means windexing the vinyl siding.
- Spend 6-8 hours on the internet
- Take delivery of a parcel
- Attend lunch with noted fashion designer Alexander Kabbaz
- Wonder if he is still in the US Coast Guard Reserve
- Polish other shoes
- Routine maintenance on garment steamer
- Visit Brooks Brothers; cry in the car when the staff doesn't fawn over the purchase of an irregular clearance bowtie
- Scan local paper for events that might demand black tie
- Place a devotional offering (a can of Safir) before the household Alden shrine
- Write and edit a blog post about how the iGent and one of his awkward friends attended an event of went shopping while dressed like some ill-formed abomination from the subterranean regions of Oscar Wilde's nightmares
- Order a perfectly nice $12 shirt from Lands End; smile smugly, thinking about the hoi-polloi and their coarseness.
Can you imagine a shoe that would stand up to all these demanding tasks?

In which the Earl of Moron discovers alternative clothing forum and discovers he's an object of derision, while future mod Googlestrom and Cruiser offer amplification. Thread closed.
Edit - Link goes to Interchange. It wasn't apparent at first as it came up on a Google search.

Big Tony and Rip - I did say 'blind' romanticism. I accept that Russia is a big sad tragedy and it does not seem likely to get much better very soon.
Orlando Figes recently got in BIG trouble for writing his own reviews at Amazon, which I found quite endearing.
DeepDiscount, you have provided a solution of crystalline clarity and penetrating wit, though I would suggest adding topies or maybe a badly-done aftermarket Dainite sole. Maybe a set of segs and blakeys too - you don't want that $119 investment to go to waste!

Here's a superb post from Tripples, making some kind of impassioned argument about something to do with not buying anything from Nautica, and that being a sign of exquisite refinement.
Hahahah! Once again Tradland resembles the protestant reformation. Justification by high-quality boat shoes alone.
