Paul May suede chukka boots, slate coloured Falke cotton/silk socks
grey Lands' End twill flat-fronts, dark brown Regent belt
blue BB Makers pinpoint oxford BD, black silk knit tie
dark brown Brooks cord sports jacket (two button, darted)
unlined Brooks mac
An un-inspiring day for me. So, i tried to work with it...
Plain white cotton t
Fawn Everest shetland jumper
`Grey` Uniqlo chinos ( these are a medium weight, drab, militaristic coloured medium grey. They have a bit of warmth, and so they may have a bit of brown in them.Possibly. They`d be getting on for a `taupe` colour if they had any more brown).
Up-sized Brown O`Connell`s cord sack sportscoat
Prs10 on admiralty grey G10
Cream Wigwam crew socks
Dark brown/chocolate Original Playboy suede chukka shoes
I know most on here dont, and won`t, wear lower rise chinos, but , speaking very personally, i really like them with up-sized sacks (and , crucially, the sack jackets must be adequately up-sized).
I can and do, also appreciate the elegance of a natural, or higher waist chino. I just like to mix things up a little bit sometimes, rather than being strictly early years ivy style `orthodox`. (Lower rise chinos can look great with the neckline of the Everest style sweater and an up-sized sack sportscoat, in my opinion. Of course, it goes without saying that a good pair of shoulders is vital).
In that sense, i can appreciate the later 60`s looks which incorporated the lower trouser rise within the core of the earlier boom years ivy look. I don`t like wearing smarter, more elegant, higher riser chinos when the weather gets hot and your neck and back start to get sticky. In "Bullitt" McQueen wears BOTH types of trouser with his sized- up sack sportscoat... The lower rise seems to be really low, however (reflecting the time , and fashion), and might be termed hipster pants.
I like lower rise trousers with peacoats. Again, this strikes me as a great late 60`s look. It`s a contrast thing.
I`ve ordered the US Wings Sgt. Hack chinos. I believe they`ll be a nice, smart, natural rise chino. I really like the taupe colour and it seems to be a colour that hasn`t been much discussed on the forum. Taupe can , i think , be great because it has the coolness of grey and the warmth of brown.
I think they`ll look great with a natural white Everest sweater or with a navy knit top and navy g9.

Cats and Dogs
Charcoal, Navy, Black
O` Connells`s Blue and Black Tattersall button down shirt (worn open necked, collars un-buttoned)
Plain, thin, white, Hanes , v-neck cotton t ( i didnt want the cotton t` to be visible at the neck)
Dark Charcoal, `Woolovers`, lambswool cardigan (showing about 5mm of white tattersall shirt cuff under the cardigan cuffs)
Navy, `Oliver Brown`, cotton cord, 5pkt jeans : http://www.oliverbrown.org.uk/cotton-cord-jeans.html. Tapered.
Precista PRS10 on a blue (a deep, restrained blue) G10 strap
Dark Charcoal ribbed wool socks
I was gonna wear a pair of black, George Cox , crepe soled, suede Playboy style chukka boots; but i`m always wearing chukka boots. I decided to wear a pair of Black Bass Weejuns`.
I don`t, particularly, like penny loafers but i do think that they can be the perfect missing ingredient for `rounding off` an outfit: un-obtrusive, casual; smart; elegant; chapp-ish
These black Bass Weejuns were bought from an American ebayer, years ago. I just loved the look of them. They have a shallow toe box. They are a broader size than i take but, probably, bizarrely, i liked the overall look of them. They taper to the toe in a very subtle, elegant chisel toe effect. They fit just fine (straight up! ).
I think some on here may, at this juncture, have a fit of the vapours`, but i love to use canuba wax on them.
The effect is less sheen and more `gloss`.
I know this will be seen as a heresy, but i think it works with the above ^.
The shoes have not been polished for about 9 months (haven`t even been worn for about 9 months); and so the dreaded `gloss` effect is a now dull gloss.
I like the effect of canuba wax because it strikes me as particularly `American`. I grew up using Kiwi wax.
With all those ostensibly `correct` , textural, colour matchings i`m wearing, the glossy effect of the polish seems a welcome, fresh, youthful, disarming, un-serious, un-pompous,` un-correct` antidote.
I`m playing the ganme and i`m sticking two fingers up at the same time.
Have a good one, folks...

Andy, you bought a vintage white cashmere v-neck jumper recently, didn`t you? It sounded nice, Andy. What are you going to wear it with?
I really like navy blue with white. Just navy and white together...; maybe an ensemble finished off with brown suede Playboy chukkas, in my own case.
Plain blue jeans from L.L. Bean, most likely. If it's a mild spring, sockless, with loafers or Jack Purcell. A box just arrived, containing my bargain 60s vintage college sweater in maroon. It was just about £3, with a very low shipping cost from Oklahoma. It's 'beater', but 'beater' with pedigree.
Sounds good, Andy. I bought some of those `dyed navy` Levi 501 jeans from U.S.A.
Too pricey, but i`d love a Lemmermayer white alpaca links cardigan. Worn with a Sunspel navy polo and dyed navy levi 501 jeans .Navy ribbed wool socks and Playboys ( cream crew socks if the jeans were regular, undyed blue levi 501 stf`s).
Maybe some Persol 714 sunglasses with brown lenses.
Decent alpaca cardigans can be picked up quite cheaply.
