An un-inspiring day for me. So, i tried to work with it...


Plain white cotton t
Fawn Everest shetland jumper
`Grey` Uniqlo chinos ( these are a medium weight, drab,  militaristic coloured medium grey.They have a bit of warmth, and so they may have a bit of brown in them.Possibly. They`d be getting on for a `taupe` colour if they had any more brown).
Up-sized Brown O`Connell`s cord sack sportscoat
Prs10 on admiralty grey G10
Cream Wigwam crew socks
Dark brown/chocolate Original Playboy suede chukka shoes



I know most on here dont, and won`t, wear lower rise chinos, but , speaking very personally, i really like them with up-sized sacks (and , crucially, the sack jackets must be adequately up-sized).

I can and do, also appreciate the elegance of a natural, or higher waist chino. I just like to mix things up a little bit sometimes, rather than being strictly early years ivy style `orthodox`. (Lower rise chinos can look great with the neckline of the Everest style sweater and an up-sized sack sportscoat, in my opinion. Of course, it goes without saying that a good pair of shoulders is vital).

In that sense, i can appreciate the later 60`s looks which incorporated the lower trouser rise within the core of the earlier boom years ivy look. I don`t like wearing smarter, more elegant, higher riser chinos when the weather gets hot and your neck and back start to get sticky. In "Bullitt" McQueen wears BOTH types of trouser with his sized- up sack sportscoat... The lower rise seems to be really low, however (reflecting the time , and fashion), and might be termed hipster pants.


I like lower rise trousers with peacoats. Again, this strikes me as a great late 60`s look. It`s a contrast thing.


I`ve ordered the US Wings Sgt. Hack chinos. I believe they`ll be a nice, smart, natural rise chino. I really like the taupe colour and it seems to be a colour that hasn`t been much discussed on the forum. Taupe can , i think , be great because it has the coolness of grey and the warmth of brown.

I think they`ll look great with a natural white Everest sweater or with a navy knit top and navy g9.

Andy, you bought a vintage white cashmere v-neck jumper recently, didn`t you? It sounded nice, Andy. What are you going to wear it with?


I really like navy blue with white. Just navy and white together...; maybe an ensemble finished off with brown suede Playboy chukkas, in my own case.

Sounds good, Andy. I bought some of those `dyed navy` Levi 501 jeans from U.S.A.


Too pricey, but i`d love a Lemmermayer white alpaca links  cardigan. Worn with a Sunspel  navy polo and dyed navy levi  501 jeans .Navy ribbed wool socks  and Playboys ( cream crew socks if the jeans were regular, undyed blue levi 501 stf`s).

Maybe some Persol 714 sunglasses with brown lenses.
