I've noticed a common, plaintive angst on several forum. We YANKS are to unsophisticated to appreciate kicking the dane's head and never will be. Forget our immigration l sees ghanian cars with flags honking horns while two central american countries try to forget an idiotic war partly sparked over one game while others celebrate or commiserate. And those horns only date to a precolumbian tradition where the losing teams were sacrificed via obsidian knife. Maybe those ersatz Druids could instill greater effort on the English team? But no, instead the mother country of the game falls back on xenophobic comforts like " Our neighbors use this as an excuse to bash us." Those neighbors were conquered colonies and if you gave them football and english to do the bashing be glad you aren't flashman's inspiration waking up to escape via sewers. People look on our own baseball and hockey with it's tribalism and violence, sigh 'It's only a game.' Sadly, it's not.
