Difficult to say: a 'Swan' is a possibility with that shape and shape of clip: http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v255/dcarmell/swan1.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/index.php%3F/topic/42592-fs-p-51-flighter-swan-eternal-mont-blanc-22/&usg=__2VNTxXmpU6Mv4TbwBuMFrHsGnbg=&h=600&w=724&sz=48&hl=en&start=94&zoom=1&tbnid=6zb56Qkz3BjG9M:&tbnh=138&tbnw=169&ei=rcDNTa3PFY2-tge4kpn5DQ&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dswan%2Bfountain%2Bpen%26hl%3Den%26rlz%3D1T4SNYK_enBR355BR355%26biw%3D1280%26bih%3D610%26tbm%3Disch0%2C2477&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=127&vpy=257&dur=213&hovh=204&hovw=247&tx=156&ty=103&page=6&ndsp=18&ved=1t:429,r:6,s:94&biw=1280&bih=610.
But Conway Stewart is another. Not, I should say, a Waterman, Parker, Montblanc or Sheaffer. Do you have a closer shot? If it's a jumble sale that you know about, I'm on for a bid, regardless...

If it just Cromps' latest post: well, I dunno...THE pens to hold in your Dents-gloved hand - and factory visit coming up. Sorry, sorry - "up-coming". Must remember that: not "pavement" but "sidewalk"; not "half hose" but "over-the-calf sox".

"Deborah, Deborah! More language drilling, please. Now, now, sweetie pie, Now, now, American pie!! - don't get really nasty."

Re: Can you help me identify this pen????

It's difficult to tell if the clip is curved or if it simply looks curved because of the lighting. This could be a cheap modern (as in post 1980s) fountain pen (perhaps a school pen), an even cheaper mass-market modern rollerball, or possibly an antique.

It looks like it might be hard rubber rather than plastic, which means it could conceivably be a Parker Jack-Knife or Duofold. It's not too far off from the Waterman 52 or 7, though the clip isn't right for that. There were a great number of black hard rubber pen makers before the 1940s so it could be a generic, unknown or vanished brand. My money is on cheap and modern.

Perhaps when the owner finishes The Great Gatsby he will meditate on the foolishness of building a persona from his possessions, and then we can all bid on his neat little flask on ebay.

The obnoxious orange color is actually retro, and the originals in that color were, coincidentally, hard rubber -
