Re: Inane Post of the Day 2012: The End of the Sartorial World Edition

Richard is briefly entertaining because he says and claims to do outrageous things. He presents himself as a shocking iconoclast, who destroys the sanitary illusions of the contemporary world by living an entirely authentic life. He claims to be true to himself and to his ancient values, and he offers no apology for his triumphal chauvinism. Reading him we get a little thrill of taboo-breaking, and we ask ourselves, can he really SAY that? His confidence and our shock combine to make us wonder if maybe we only find him infuriating because we are jealous, and if we would perhaps prefer to live and think like Richard.

Then if you actually examine any of the content of what he writes you find that he is a juvenile, borderline-imbecilic narcissist. His supposedly brave, supposedly value-based rebellion is actually just a nauseating collection of childish sexual and status obsessions justified (or excused) by their supposed WASP-iness. Take "bossoms", for instance.

He is no more authentic or authentically in touch with his inner man than Chenners. And what we do see of Richard's inner man is quite unattractive. He is, as g- writes, a dog peeing on the carpet, then proudly announcing that his act of public urination is part of his glorious identity and the traditions of his proud people.

Andyvian baller sells his company and goes to London to be measured for shotguns.  In typical iGent fashion he buys 2 "undergrade" i.e. seconds, guns, which are partly made in Mexio with machine engraving, wood-like plastic stocks, and instructions in Taiwanese, but gets a good deal. He also walks a lot and doesn't get a single blister, avoids 5-star restaurants (no shit), and wears jeans, which makes Andy weep. The really bad news here, for everyone, is that DukeGrad is armed:

BallOx, college lacrosse scout and Certified USLA Equipment Adjuster, is the latest shooting star to blaze across the internet sky at Andy's. When he's not being chewed out for liking white shoes he's posting his own outfits and researching "suitbags" for the upcoming summer season, considering such criteria as "Best Visibility of garment", "breathability", "easy access to pouches for dirty jock straps", etc.:

On the "Help a Fat Guy" thread, Flanderian claims that when he was thirty years old, he was 5'10", weighed 220#, had a 38" waist, and ran a sub five minute mile.

Re: Inane Post of the Day 2012: The End of the Sartorial World Edition

A new comer to shoos buys two pairs of Vass online, gets the right fit, and now thinks he is a shoo fitting expert.
http://www.styleforum.net/t/130044/the-ultimate-vass-porn-thread/3030#post_5229083

People try telling him that it's not that simple, but he can't be told. He says that if you do your homework properly you will never make a mistake. He even mentions measuring a Vass last, but how the hell does a customer get access to a Vass last in order to measure it?

l think it's only a matter of time before he eats his words and makes a mistake, he'll either soon wake up by making mistakes, or he will be the greatest shoo-star of all time.

But then there is this bloke who gives him a dose of reality:
http://www.styleforum.net/t/130044/the-ultimate-vass-porn-thread/3045#post_5229784

So maybe Mr Tomcat isn't such a brilliant shooman afterall.

But then, when we think Mr Cat might wake up that he is living an illusion, we get this:
http://www.styleforum.net/t/130044/the-ultimate-vass-porn-thread/3045#post_5230484

He can't be told.

Re: Inane Post of the Day 2012: The End of the Sartorial World Edition

Thing is, if you wanna be a good shooman, you need to be open minded and listen to what the professionals have to say. Mr Cat won't learn much that way he is going, he'll remain a failed shooman forever if he doesn't change his thinking. Good shooman are humble and don't think they know everything, that's the only way to move forward and learn. lf you have a big ego and think you know everything, it will cut off future learning opportunities because you are not open.

He thinks he is a BIG daddy shooman, but he has a long way to go.
