A new brewery is open in Wandsworth. At the Ealing beer festival they were offering an ale called 'Diamond Geezer'.

Most people yesterday obviously had no interest in clothes either.

Ealing was excellent. In my case, a group of old codgers sat round a table right beside the massive beer tent reminiscing and enjoying some fine ales in the sunshine.

They had run out of the very strong Fullers ales by the end but I usually stick to the weaker beers to pace myself.

Is there a finer beer festival in London? Kingston is nearer, but not as good. Back in the day, Catford used to be excellent. Great British Beer Festival at Olympia/Earls Court is now an overpriced waste of time.

Yes I know someone who used to take time off and get a season ticket for the GBBF. Then he would come down the pub after a session. Next day he would be off to the GBBF again. Then one year he said they charged him £3 just for the programme. If you go to after work it is 10pm before you know it and they are making announcements about closing.

Bricklayers is a brilliant pub I always go to their beerfests. The Rocket is a very good Wetherspoons on the other side of Putney bridge if the Bricky is too crowded(after a match at Craven Cottage). If you order food they bring your beers to the table for the rest of the session. No scumbags in there either - which is remarkable for a Wetherspoon.   

My old darts team started going to the Southampton; not been myself but the Pineapple in the back streets was a decent Kentish Town pub.
Kilburn pubs are not what they were. Last time I was there was when the Luminaire was still open.

Sam Smiths have some truly beautiful pubs like the Princess Louise in Holborn. Their beer is cheap too. Unfortunately it does not taste great and they do not offer an alternative.

Timothy Taylor used to be on at the Bricklayers in Putney - the whole range not just Landlord. A lot of barrels were arriving in poor condition so the landlady Becky offered to run a van up to Yorkshire to collect the beers straight from the brewery and bypass the middleman. Timothy Taylor would not agree and the Bricklayers no longer stocks it.

Dog & Duck in Bateman Street used to be OK though I do not really drink in the area.

He doesn´t really get a mention on here, probably because we will be accused of turning this into a Mod forum again, but Suggs is a top geezer.

Maybe it's confined mostly to London.

As it happens, I was killing time before lunch and looked into Ben Nevis window in Camden. Roamers Desert boots and Harringtons are now £42. One of the Madness band got chased all the way to Kentish Town after attempting to steal one from the shop.

Nice Greek meal. The red wine was a little too hot in this weather so I switched to beer. We used to use another Greek place a stones throw way. Much of it has now been converted to accommodation and it is far quieter in just the ground floor.

After a lengthy lunch some of us went on to ‘Tapping the Admiral’ which has decent ales. Lots of oldies at the bar. One of the bar staff was a bloke in a gymslip. Nobody seemed to regard it as unusual. Camden definitely cosmopolitan now. Greek community holding on, just down the road from the Greek Orthodox cathedral, but lots of tourists and blow ins.

The term Geezer, as discussed before, means different things to different people. As, I think USA Patrick has pointed out Geezer in America just means an old bloke. No violence involved.
I am an 'old' Geezer in English, English. In my crowd we talk about some Geezer as in some bloke.
I read an interview yesterday and Danny Dyer was mentioned as a really nice bloke. He is also a Geezer. His on screen persona is an obvious  exaggeration
I haven't thought about it before but maybe you have to be from London and surrounding areas to be a Geezer

When I lived in North Romford my neighbours both sides were London black cab drivers so I was surrounded by Geezers. They were great characters but their one big flaw was they were both Arsenal supporters.
