The genre will never be considered 'cool' and as a consequence is completely free from poseurs.

Watch this bullshit.  I just can't believe such crap exists and is popular.  An excellent sociocultural gauge.

Galtymore in Cricklewood is missed. Ceili band in one hall. Showband in the other.

'Ring of fire' every night and 'Soldiers song' to end the evening.

Hayes Carll is the country guy you want.

You can also get some mileage from the back catalogs of Dwight Yoakum and Delbert McClinton

I thought George Strait also did some decent stuff.  Even Alan Jackson.  But I don't think current mainstream "country" has any room for halfway decent artists anymore.  But I stopped even trying to listen many years ago.

Re: Is Modern Country Music All One Song about Trucks and Beer?

Sort of thought Dwight Yoakam, Steve Earle, Del McCoury were the last guys out there doing it right, not counting Merle and Willie .....

Country would not have slid into the abyss if Dwight and Steve had been able to keep their hair.
