The lesson here is, even in a constituency where the bent candidates demographic are in a minority, they still get to win with the threat of civil war if they don't!

And they wonder why Scotland want's to leave the union.

I might make the point that my background is from County Cork and Tipperary and Italy and Prussian/German plus a significant bit of wandering Jew.
I've still been lumped as an Anglo in general parlance.

These days I'm mainly just a Skip.

You have to get your name crossed off and put a paper in the box. Theres nothing to stop you voting for no one, or writing very rude words  or drawings on it - I've been a scrutineer - its funny and naughty and sometimes pathetic what people write.

Compulsory voting is a long argument but on balance I'm convinced its better. Stops a lot of corruption and no one has to concentrate on just getting people out to vote - so, in theory at least, theres a focus on policies.

Some pretty important shit is going down in the aussie courts rights now. I can see a time when the public starts using their trust accounts to pay utility bills (to stop their fraud), and that local govt will eventually have a class action filed against them and need to repay all the rate money they have stolen off the Australian men and women. These landmark events are currently happening in the Magistrates and High Court, and it is going to come out into the public soon and people are going to be in for a big surprise....people are very busy working at this behind the scenes, we are all involved to take these bastards down. The Magistrates event has been big in the news too, but when we defeat the system it will become huge news and open the floodgates.

I can't stand it when voting time comes around and people start bugging me about it and asking me which candidate I'm voting for.  I don't get really worked up too often, but a few years ago I slipped up and told someone who I voted for and they just wouldn't stop badgering me and making snide little comments about it around the office.  I finally had enough and stood up, stormed over to their desk and told them to meet me outside.  Once outside I told them, in no polite manner, to shut the fuck up.  I was actually pointing my finger in their face.  I also had a strong dislike for this person for some time prior, so it was kind of the last straw.  Thankfully for me, they got fired soon after.  My personal rule at this point, is just not to talk about politics, or religion, with people at work.
