It's not a great song. It's a good song. If it were titled "Rhode Island and Providence Plantations", and had lyrics so adapted, it would be a great song. Just need to sing that part faster and it works just fine.

That is a good song.
Back to the shit - anything by Gary Puckett and the Union Gap.
^
I concur.
f'ing hate Young Girl by Gary Puckett, bane of oldies radio for decades ....
also hate its creepy cousin I Think We're Alone Now by Tommy James, who made some good records, unlike Puckett .....

Agreed. I'm not even a young girl and that song gives me the creeps. I don't even have a daughter for that matter. I can't believe that song became such a hit considering how blatantly creepy the lyrics are.
I'll post them here so all can see the creepiness.
Young girl, get out of my mind
My love for you is way out of line
Better run girl,
You're much too young girl
With all the charms of a woman
You've kept the secret of your youth
You led me to believe
You're old enough
To give me Love
And now it hurts to know the truth, Oh,
Young girl get out of my mind
my love for you is way outta line
better run girl, your much too young girl
Beneath your perfume and make-up
You're just a baby in disguise
And though you know
That it is wrong to be
Alone with me
That come on look is in your eyes, Oh,
Young girl get outta my mind
My love for you is way outta line
better run girl, Your much too young girl
So hurry home to your mama
I'm sure she wonders where you are
Get out of here
Before I have the time
To change my mind
'Cause I'm afraid we'll go too far, Oh,
Young girl get outta my mind
my love for you is way outta line
better run girl, your much too young girl

Naked Eyes - (There's) Always Something There to Remind Me"
And that Safety Dance song too. WTF?! Who was that? Men Without Hats? Good band name too...
Candle in the Wind Elton John
Angels and all other tracks by Robbie Williams
Love Cats The Cure
The Masterplan Barrie K Sharpe
Xmas Time Cliff Richard

Can't argue with any of those.
Aerosmith - Rag Doll
Coldplay and Simply Red - any song by either. Robbie Williams - any song.
Lenny Kravitz "Fly Away," if I didn't already mention that one. I heard it again today and it set my blood boiling. So bad.
That Moby album that everyone loved around 15 years ago - what a load of MOR crap. From a boring git.
Bruno Marrs - a crap pastiche of 50s/60s R&B. Ditto Amy Winehouse.
Robbie Williams - any track - pure, absolute crap.
David Essex - crap in the 70s.
