Hmmm I might size down.
Just a heads up: I'm shortly going to be starting online ivy fitness classes. Like normal sports classes but I'll be wearing retro sportwear and we'll be working out to vintage Blue Notes. Pm me for full details.
Community Clothing are now producing a made in England 100% cotton chore Jean in putty or navy. Tapered and with a high waist. I might be interested.
£75
They look like chinos with weird pockets. Good chinos with weird pockets. Once the weather improves I will consider them. Despite rather than because of the pockets.
I saw them, they are a strange chino/5pocket hybrid with slant hip pockets and patch rear pockets. But they sort of work as a slightly more casual khaki trousers. No doubt being C.C. the quality and construction will be excellent. But last thing I need is more chinos or light colored trousers..
They are a strange hybrid but with the high waist they just might work for me. I like that they are made in England for a reasonable price.
I need some trousers urgently so I've just ordered some of the chore jeans. I still don't understand how the word chore has become an adjective, and they certainly don't look like jeans to me, regardless I have high hopes. All being well, they're heavy enough for the UK spring and light enough for the summer.

Full report once they've arrived, of course.
That pocket styling is the same as the iconic McQueen Levi’s but they have a standard 5 pocket waistband and not the continental style.
Be interesting to see what you think when they land Yuca
With the rising cost of importing from the US, I think I may have to like them or lump them. I don't know of any other high rise trousers for that price except Silvermans chinos, which I also intend to try at some point. (I am aware the Silvermans will need some alterations.)
Silvermans' are pretty good for the price, Yuca. You can take them anywhere. As Uncle Ian says elsewhere, though, wash them through a few times before considering alterations.
The colour works far better for me than the light green O'Connell's uses. I have some vintage US army chinos that appear to be the same shade.
For 20 quid you can't really argue with Silverman's!
That's expensive for some of us.
Sadly Silvermans ran out of 30?? years ago so had to do with my solitary pair. For the price they are perfect, rolled up and thrown in a bag when cycling to work, washed, worn and bettered - perfect.
My mate was wearing a Community Clothing Harrington when I saw him yesterday. Navy blue, 100% cotton, good quality and very nicely made, muted lining, excellent value for £139. I hadn’t spoken to him about the brand but he was aware of their ethos of manufacturing in Blackburn and providing work for local people. He considered that buying from them felt like a positive thing to do.
His was a G9 pattern with elasticated waist and cuffs but I see they also do a G4 pattern Harrington (think I got my Gs right there).
I also feel good about buying from Community Clothing. The Harrington looks on the short side for me and my long torso but it's good to read it's well made. Years ago I believe most clothes were well made in the uk but having imported rubbish for many years we have forgotten this.
I like the look of their lambswool cardigans: nicely understated.
It might be interesting if Chiltern Street got involved.
The lambswool cardigans made in Hawick? Good quality I guess but they never seem to have all the sizes in stock. I hope CC can survive long term.
Hawick... possibly... The last time I saw anything bearing that name, it was made in China. It may be that CC are in competition with those chaps. It used to be, I think, a pretty good name - didn't it?
‘Hawick’ was a brand name used by one of the department store chains, possibly House of Fraser. But of course that didn’t mean the stuff was actually made in the town of Hawick!
Going on a lambswool crew neck I bought from CC, the quality is very good, think old Alan Paine. The reason that they are low on stock sometimes is because you have to wait while the stuff is made. This happened with my CC sweatpants which took about 4 weeks to come. But worth the wait.
Howick is the House of Fraser brand name. Another missed opportunity with designers trying to do 'American heritage' their words not mine. Dirt cheap merino wool jumpers etc.

I used to quite like visiting House of Fraser in Lakeside but Mike Ashley Sports Direct bought the group out of administration and the change in the store was very noticeable
Yes you’re right Robbie it was Howick, they evidently fooled me into thinking of Hawick anyway!
Debenhams had a mens brand called Maine which had a New England Preppy/Ivy lighthouse keeper vibe to it. It didn’t look bad, but again the quality was poor.. By then the race to the bottom was underway with Primark in the lead.
