Starched shirts ? ? ?

Today I wearing a white oxford cloth button down shirt that has heavy starch.  This is not my usual choice.  Usually I just wash and iron my shirts at home and don't use starch at all.  I do have a shirt or two that I've sent out to be cleaned and starched.  It feels a bit like wearing armor - this heavy starch.  Kinda nice as I'm in an argumentative mood - put up yer dukes - put up yer dukes.  Any way, what are folks thoughts on shirts with starch or no starch or light starch?

Light starch for me on most business shirts.  I apply a little to the collar, cuffs and front.  Never so much to make things stiff, but enough to improve the finish.

I wash and iron all my shirts - except for those that need dry cleaning of course!

I send out all my shirts. No starch, ever.

The abrasive molecles of starch combined with pressing contribute to the wear and tear of the shirt, so I avoid it.

My father used to get my mother to use 'Robin' spray starch on his stuff.

It had a certain smell.
